Making offerings is a ritual practice, and as such is not emphasised in the Aro Lineage. As part of the householder tradition—gö-kar chang-lo’i dé—it is understood that practitioners may not have a lot of time to fit in formal practice with the demands of working and family life. If one only has half an hour available in the day for formal practice, it is more beneficial to spend the entire half hour engaged in meditation practice, rather than using 10 minutes of that time setting up water bowls. However if one has more time available, then making offerings is an enjoyable and beneficial practice.
