Ngala Nor’dzin with Tanzin Rinpoche and Jomo Chöku

Ngala Nor’dzin with  Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche and Jomo Chöku Wangmo

at Whitchurch High School

This photograph was taken during Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche’s visit to Britain in 2004 – where he taught on the West Wales Apprentice Retreat at the invitation of Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen – and was requested to give the ‘hair vows’ for those who hoped to take ordination in the gö-kar chang-lo’i dé.

He is a close personal friend of Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen and has given teachings at several Apprentice Retreats in Britain and the USA.  Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche composed the Aro gTér Lineage invocation which is recited at the beginning of retreats and has written several long Life Wish paths for Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen and for Ngala Nor’dzin and Ngala ’ö-Dzin.

Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche gave a series of teachings at the Buddhist Society in London, several talks, and also visited a number of schools in various parts of Britain to talk about his school in Pemakö (http://www.pemakoproject.org). Here he is seen with his Sang-yum (spiritual consort / wife), Jomo Chöku and Ngala Nor’dzin visiting the ’A’ level Religious Studies group at Whitchurch High School in Cardiff – Wales. This is the secondary school attended by Ngala Nor’dzin and Ngala ’ö-Dzin’s sons, Daniel and Richard, and Daniel was part of this VIth form group.

Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche gave a presentation to the class about the Lhundrüp Topgyé Ling School and nursery he established in Pemakö in Northern India in 2002. He and Ngala Nor’dzin also answered general questions about Buddhism, Buddhist practice and the Vajrayana tradition.

Daniel can be seen in the grey shirt behind Jomo Chöku. Daniel and Richard have been invited by Lopön Ögyen Tanzin Rinpoche to visit the school in Pemakö to teach English to his ngak’phang students. They intend to take up this offer when Richard has finished his ‘A’ levels in 2007, before he commences university studies.
